What are the tone knobs used for on the squire fender affinity Fat Strat (Electric Guitar)?
What are the tone knobs used for on the squire fender affinity fat strat? i've tried turning them but i dont hear any difference. if anyone could give me a detailed answer i will gladly give them best answer. only answer if you know the answer (dont guess).
There is a master volume and Two Tone controls. The reason you don't see any difference when you turn the tone knobs may be due to where you have the 5-Way Switch set. The tone controls don't both work in all positions. In the furthest rear position (1) none of the tone controls are active. If we number the 5-way switch settings 1-5 with 1 being closest to the bridge, and name the tone controls T1 and T2 with T1 being next to the master volume, the switch positions look like this:
5 = T1 (Neck Pickup)
4 = T1 & T2 (neck and Middle Pickup)
3 = T2 (middle pickup)
2 = T2 (bridge and middle pickup)
1 = No Tone Control (Bridge Pickup)
The master volume works in all positions
The Way Guitar tone controls work is to deaden the treble. This is different than a bass/treble control! Nothing is boosted, it's simply a potentiometer with a capacitor connected to ground. In my experience, I don't know why they bother putting tone controls on guitars at all. They just make a muddy sound. Leave the tone controls at full and do all the bass/treble adjustments on the amp. Your Guitar will sound it's best that way.
